Here's an interesting question I recently recieved in email from one of my friends who is a loving and concerned parent of a teen: "What things do you wish your parents had taught you that they didn't get a chance to....what did you have to figure out from scratch?"

An interesting side note is that most people learn by doing: the Learning Pyramid. As an adult I find that I will completely understand something if I have to teach another how to do it.

My answer to the question above? How to do laundry! I think it was Mom's secret escape so no one else got to do it. Fortunately, laundry soap comes with instructions on the back of the bottle.

I wish I had paid attention to Mom's knitting and crocheting. It's something that I really admire now and would love to know how. I may ask for beginning lessons when I visit in a few weeks.
